The Acting Chairman of the Katsina State chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, Surajo Rufa’i, has been killed in an attack by suspected bandits.
The tragic incident occurred on Saturday at Rufa’i’s residence in Mai-Rana village, located within the Kusada Local Government Area of Katsina State. Two other individuals also lost their lives in the attack.
According to a statement from the Katsina State Police Command, the bandits stormed the late chairman’s home, fatally shooting him before abducting his wife and undergraduate daughter. The police spokesman, Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the assault, describing it as a targeted attack.

Mallam Rufa’i had recently assumed the role of Acting Chairman of MACBAN’s Katsina chapter, following the mysterious disappearance of Mannir Atiku Lamido, the association’s National Vice President and Katsina State Chairman. Prior to his elevation, Rufa’i served as the association’s state secretary.
Further investigations are underway as security agencies intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators and rescue the abducted family members.
