Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has firmly rejected any plans by the United States and Israel to forcibly relocate Palestinians from the war-ravaged Gaza Strip.

Speaking in Tehran during a meeting with Ziyad al-Nakhalah, the leader of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group, the Iranian leader insisted that no settlement would be viable without the consent of both Gaza’s residents and the armed resistance.

His comments come in response to a proposal put forward earlier this month by US President Donald Trump, which suggested a US-led administration of Gaza and the relocation of its population to other countries, including Egypt and Jordan. The plan has been widely condemned by Arab governments, while the United Nations has warned that such a move could amount to ‘ethnic cleansing’.
