Labour Party Blames Government Over Katsina Massacre

The Labour Party has condemned the killing of at least 30 worshippers during morning prayers in Unguwar Mantau village, Katsina State, where more than 20 residents were also burnt alive and 76 others abducted.

Although some captives have since been freed, the party described the tragedy as fresh evidence of Nigeria’s failing security architecture. It noted that within 48 hours of the incident, bandits attacked over a dozen more communities, imposed a ₦15m levy and restricted farmers’ movements under threat of death.

The party criticised the Federal Government for allocating ₦6.57 trillion to defence in 2025 while insecurity continues unabated. It warned the National Security Adviser against limiting his role to condolence visits and urged President Bola Tinubu to accept full responsibility.

The Labour Party affirmed solidarity with victims and insisted Nigerians deserve protection, not excuses.
