Labour Party Youth Leader Criticises Kenneth Okonkwo’s Resignation
Kennedy Ahanotu, the national youth leader of the Labour Party.

The national youth leader of the Labour Party,  Kennedy Ahanotu, has criticized Kenneth Okonkwo’s resignation letter from the labour party, and recent statements about the labour party

In an interview monitored by RadioNow’s news desk, Ahanotu pointed out that Okonkwo’s letter shows he’s unclear about the party’s leadership structure, He also found it unusual that Okonkwo’s resignation takes effect on February 25, suggesting that the actor-turned-politician’s dramatic flair may be influencing his actions.

“Given that social media Resonation one could see that Kenneth Okonkwo have openly told the whole world that he has not been a member of the Labour Party. Number one, Kenneth Okonkwo addressed his letter to the Nigerian people. All Nigerians are not members of the Labour Party. There are about 19 political parties in Nigeria and the Labour Party is one of them. So Kenneth Okonkwo addressing his letter to Nigerian people means that Abinishio has not been a member of the Labour Party. So his letter is not properly addressed. He doesn’t know his ward chairman. He doesn’t know his local government chairman. He doesn’t know even his state chairman and he’s confused about who is the national chairman of the Labour Party. That is why he wrote that such an open letter calling it his resignation and also postponing the effect of that letter on 25th of February shows that there is some effect of the movie he acted, Living in Bondage, you know, currently applying on him currently because I can’t imagine a politician writing such a resignation letter, baseless resignation letter.”

He added that the party won’t miss Kenneth Okonkwo due to his constant disparagement of the party with unfounded claims.

“The Labour Party, we’re not missing because Kenneth Okonkwo has recently continuously disparaged the party, saying all manner of things against the party. Both things that are very much unfounded, including claiming that he doesn’t know that Julius Sabure is not the National Chairman of the Labour Party. And I want to tell him that Julius Sabure is the National Chairman of the Labour Party by the party decision, and by even courts, courts have given them a hint of where the leadership of the party lies. And him being a lawyer and disagreeing without doing the necessary things he’s supposed to do as a lawyer shows that he’s not truly a politician. He’s one of those I can refer to as content creators in Nigerian political space.”

Kennedy Ahanotu, stated that the party remains committed to its values and has not been infiltrated or bought by the opposing APC party.

“Kenneth Okonkwo cannot present any facts with respect to such a level of allegation. Nigerian politics is, when you fall apart with people, you label them as being bought. In most instances, you label them as being bought by your opposing partners. And I can assure you that the Labour Party has not been… In fact, the Labour Party is the only political party currently in Nigeria that has not been infiltrated by the opposition APC. And I can say that with my heart, because I know how we started. The National Chairman of the party and most members of the NWC are people that have remained in opposition. They are not people that are pepe soup, dum-dum kind of politicians. They are people that believe in what they are pursuing. They are people that believe in the philosophy of social democracy. And anything less than social democracy counts many of us out of it. So we have never been bought. We are not interested in being bought.”
