Labour Senator Casts Doubt on Party’s Future, Backs Opposition Coalition

Labour Party Senator Ireti Kingibe has admitted that her party is mired in internal disputes, casting serious doubt on its ability to win elections in its current state.

Speaking on a political programme monitored by Radio Now’s Newsdesk, the Federal Capital Territory lawmaker said the Labour Party is deeply fractured, with ongoing leadership tussles making it an unreliable platform for electoral success.

Although she confirmed her continued membership of the party, Senator Kingibe revealed her alignment with an opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which she says offers more credible prospects—especially in the forthcoming FCT elections.

She warned that unless the crisis is resolved, the party risks becoming a liability for opposition efforts. When asked if she might eventually leave the Labour Party, the senator responded that it remains a possibility.
