The Lagos State Government and the City of London have unveiled a strategic partnership aimed at deepening technological collaboration between the two cities.
Speaking at a Tech Summit in Lagos—part of London’s first official trade mission to Nigeria—Mayor Sadiq Khan hailed Lagos as Africa’s tech capital, likening its innovation potential to London’s role in Europe.

Mr. Khan cited London’s Nigerian diaspora, over 150,000 strong, as a vital bridge for expanding business and cultural ties. He urged Nigerian entrepreneurs to view London as a natural partner in global growth.
Lagos Innovation Commissioner Olatubosun Alake called for the creation of a London-Lagos innovation corridor, merging financial capital with grassroots ingenuity.
The partnership will focus on ethical data use, digital finance, and inclusive technology, with Lagos showcasing major investments in fibre optics, STEM education, and startup support across underserved communities.
