Lagos Announces Alternative Routes For Kara Bridge Repairs

The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Works, has announced alternative routes for motorists as rehabilitation work resumes on the Kara Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The repairs are scheduled to last about two weeks following the replacement of damaged expansion joints.

The Federal Controller of Works in Ogun State, Olayiwola Komolafe, said the partial closure is necessary to improve safety and prevent further deterioration of the bridge. He added that the work will affect traffic moving outward from Lagos.

Motorists travelling from Ikorodu towards Mowe, Sagamu, and Ibadan have been advised to use routes through Shimawa or Mosinmi. Those heading from Lagos Island are encouraged to take the Epe corridor through Ijebu Ode to reach their destinations.

Authorities have urged road users to plan their journeys and comply with traffic management instructions during the repair period. The ministry also appealed for patience, noting that the work is aimed at ensuring long-term road safety.
