The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has announced that sections of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway will be ready for commissioning by May 2025. In a statement by his media aide, Orji Uchenna Orji, Umahi revealed that four Renewed Hope legacy projects, alongside inherited ongoing projects across the six geopolitical zones, are progressing steadily.
Umahi stated that significant progress has been made on the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, with the first 20 km in section one and 10 km in section two expected to be completed by May 29, 2025. Similarly, work on the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway is advancing, with 20 km from sections in Sokoto and Kebbi slated for commissioning on the same date.

The minister commended President Bola Tinubu for prioritising funding for these projects despite interventions in other critical sectors. He also disclosed that the four legacy projects incorporate train tracks, with sections set to commence operations in 2025.
