Lagos State has urged greater collaboration and investment in flood-resilient infrastructure as part of efforts to tackle the growing impact of climate change. Speaking at the 2025 World Habitat Day commemoration themed “Urban Crisis Response: Flooding in Focus” Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, said flooding remained a major threat to Lagos as a coastal megacity.
He called for long-term planning, sustainable investment, and community engagement to strengthen urban resilience. The governor highlighted ongoing initiatives under the state’s T.H.E.M.E.S.+ Agenda, coordinated by the Lagos State Resilience Office (LASRO).

Officials urged private investors, development partners, and innovators to support flood control, mangrove restoration, and smart drainage systems. The event featured expert lectures, exhibitions, and youth debates on sustainable housing and climate adaptation.
