The Lagos State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mr. Oluyinka Olumide, has called for deeper collaboration between the Ministry and the Association of Town Planning Consultants of Nigeria, ATOPCON, to advance physical planning and urban renewal.
Receiving ATOPCON executives led by Mr. Bello Akinwale, Mr. Olumide underscored the need for strategic partnerships to realise the vision of a Greater Lagos. He highlighted the state’s openness to innovative approaches, particularly in the transformation of informal spaces into functional areas that can create jobs and improve city aesthetics.

He noted that the recent rebranding of the Lagos State Planning and Environmental Monitoring Authority, LASPEMA, into the Lagos State Informal Space Management Authority, LASISMA, reflects Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s renewed commitment to optimising such spaces.
ATOPCON, through Mr. Makinde Ogunleye, pledged continued cooperation in driving professionalism, ethics, and capacity building in support of the state’s development goals.
