The Lagos State Government has sealed properties and sites in the Lekki area following a joint enforcement exercise against illegal reclamation and dredging along the Lagos Lagoon.
The operation, led by the Ministry of Waterfront Infrastructure Development in collaboration with planning and environmental agencies, targeted buildings and sand-dealing activities deemed to be in breach of state regulations.

A building on Admiralty Way, Lekki Phase 1, was shut down for unauthorised reclamation and illegal structural extensions. Officials said the property had been repeatedly sealed in the past but construction and social activities continued in defiance of stop-work orders.
The government has vowed to prosecute offenders, with the possibility of land forfeiture. Several illegal dredging sites were also sealed, and five suspects arrested. Officials warned that such activities risk blocking water channels and damaging the lagoon’s fragile ecosystem.
