The Lagos High Court, sitting at Tafawa Balewa Square, has acquitted Fredrick Nwajagu, the Eze of Ajao Estate, of terrorism charges brought against him.
Delivering her judgement on Wednesday, Justice Yetunde Adesanya ruled that the prosecution had failed to prove the charges beyond a reasonable doubt.
However, Mr Nwajagu was found guilty of violating the Oba and Chiefs Law of Lagos State by parading himself as a titled chief without official recognition. For this offence, he was sentenced to one year in prison.

Given that he has already spent nearly two years in custody since his arrest, Justice Adesanya ordered his immediate release.
Mr Nwajagu was arrested in April 2023 after a video emerged in which he allegedly urged Igbo residents in Lagos to enlist members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, to safeguard their properties from looters.
