Lagos Impounds 959 Vehicles in CBD Crackdown, Unveils Apapa Office

The Lagos State Government has impounded 926 vehicles and 33 tricycles for traffic violations within its Central Business Districts, CBDs, as part of an intensified campaign to restore order across key commercial areas.

Following successful enforcement in Lagos Island and Ikeja, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the establishment of a new Apapa Central Business Office to address infrastructure challenges and enhance the business environment.

Special Adviser on CBD, Mrs Bola Olumegbon-Lawal, disclosed the developments during a ministerial briefing in Alausa, marking the governor’s second term.

She noted that the clampdown targeted illegal parking, one-way driving, and obstruction offences, all of which contribute to chronic gridlock.

Three individuals were arrested for assaulting enforcement officers. Authorities have vowed zero tolerance for violence against personnel, confirming the suspects have been prosecuted in line with state law.
