Lagos Impounds Over 200 Unroadworthy Vehicles in Safety Crackdown

The Lagos State Vehicle Inspection Service has seized more than 200 vehicles during a statewide operation targeting roadworthiness violations.

Led by VIS Director Akin-George Fashola, the enforcement drive focused heavily on commercial minibuses, including Danfo and Korope, which were found flouting safety standards. The operation forms part of ongoing efforts to improve transport efficiency and reduce accidents across the state.

A statement from the Ministry of Transportation, issued by Deputy Director of Public Affairs Bolanle Ogunlola, confirmed the sweep and noted that enforcement applies to all vehicle types, not just private cars.

Officials say the crackdown will continue, with the aim of ensuring all vehicles on Lagos roads meet safety regulations and contribute to a more reliable transport system for residents.
