Lagos launches workplace sexual harassment guidelines

The Lagos State Government has launched new guidelines to tackle sexual harassment in the workplace. The framework was unveiled by the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency at a symposium in Victoria Island.

The event brought together more than 130 professionals from banking, oil and gas, hospitality, and trade union sectors. DSVA Executive Secretary Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi described sexual and gender-based violence as a human rights violation and an economic challenge.

Findings from a recent survey of 549 professionals showed that more than 70 percent had experienced workplace harassment, while nearly 90 percent knew someone affected. Lawmakers say the Lagos Assembly is committed to strengthening legal protections.

Keynote speaker Kemi Ibru, founder of Women at Risk International Foundation, called for zero tolerance policies and stronger survivor support.
