The Lagos State Government says it will begin phasing out “korope” minibuses from major highways as part of reforms to ease congestion and modernise public transport. Officials say the small buses contribute to frequent obstructions and unsafe road conditions.
The government plans to replace them with more regulated transit options on key corridors, including routes slated for the Lekki–Epe transport upgrade.

This follows several clampdowns in which taskforce teams impounded dozens of korope and tricycles operating in restricted areas.
Authorities say the initiative will enhance traffic flow and improve commuter safety across the state.
