Lagos Police Bolster Security in Mushin Following Teen Gang Attacks

The Lagos State Police Command has stepped up security in Mushin after a spate of daylight assaults and shop thefts allegedly carried out by teenage hoodlums.

Police PRO Benjamin Hundeyin said the decision followed reports of street gangs—some as young as 14—harassing residents and stealing from traders in broad daylight.

In response, Police Commissioner Owohunwa Olalekan has deployed tactical squads, mobile police units, and conventional officers across Mushin and surrounding areas.

Normalcy, according to police, has since returned, but officers continue to conduct raids on suspected hideouts.

Twenty-three suspects were arrested during operations in Ishaga, Awolowo, and Ojuwoye markets and are now under investigation.

Local government chairmen have also been engaged to devise longer-term strategies to maintain security.

Police have urged residents to report suspicious activity and assured the public that the safety of lives and property remains the command’s top priority.
