The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed reports that its officers attacked residents during the Oworonshoki demolition exercise. In a statement signed by spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi, the Command said its personnel acted lawfully and professionally, stressing that the operation was carried out by the Lagos State Department of Urban Development and Planning in collaboration with the State Task Force.

According to the Command, all affected residents were given official notices and paid compensation before the demolition began. Police officers, it said, were deployed solely to maintain law and order and acted under strict instructions to respect human rights.
However, human rights lawyer Femi Falana has accused the Lagos State Government of disobeying a valid court order halting the demolitions, describing the action as gross contempt and flagrant disobedience.
