The Lagos State Police Command has reinstated security escorts for the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda, following their withdrawal earlier on Thursday.
The move had sparked speculation, particularly as security details of the impeached Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, were restored shortly before he arrived at the Assembly complex and declared himself Speaker.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Jimoh Moshood, confirmed at a press briefing that four officers assigned to Meranda had been reinstated. He explained that the initial withdrawal was part of an ongoing audit of police personnel and firearms, affecting not only Lagos but other state commands as well.
Authorities maintain that the review is routine, aimed at ensuring accountability in security deployments. However, the timing of the incident has raised questions amid the political tensions in the state legislature.
