Ride-hailing drivers on platforms including Uber, Bolt, inDrive, and Lagride in Lagos have begun a three-day strike. The Amalgamated Union of App-Based Transporters of Nigeria says drivers are protesting poor working conditions and fares that do not cover rising costs.
Drivers report that higher fuel prices, vehicle maintenance, and living expenses have reduced their earnings. The union says fare structures have not been updated to match these costs, leaving many struggling to make a sustainable income despite long hours.
During the strike, drivers across Lagos are expected to log off from all ride-hailing platforms. The union says the action aims to demand fair pay, safer working conditions, and economic sustainability, and is not meant to punish commuters.

The union has presented ten demands to ride-hailing companies and authorities, including fare reviews, lower commission rates, minimum base fares, improved safety systems, and accident and health insurance for drivers.
