The Lagos State chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Students has issued a strong appeal to authorities, urging immediate intervention to tackle the electricity crisis plaguing campuses across the state.
Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday at the Lagos State College of Health, the newly elected chairman of the chapter, Abdul-Raheem Abdul-Quadri, lamented the dire conditions students face due to erratic power supply and decaying infrastructure.

Highlighting the severity of the situation, Mr. Abdul-Quadri singled out institutions such as the Lagos State University of Science and Technology, LASUSTECH, and other colleges in the Epe region. He described the energy challenges as “crippling,” noting that LASUSTECH students endure as little as four hours of electricity daily, despite being classified as Band A consumers.
The student leader emphasised the urgent need for stakeholders to prioritise the welfare of students, warning that prolonged neglect could exacerbate existing hardships and hinder academic performance.
