Operatives of the Lagos State Taskforce, on Tuesday, carried out enforcement of the ban on motorcycle operators, popularly called “okada” in some parts of the state.
At least 164 okadas were impounded during the sting operations.
The enforcement, which saw no less than 164 motorbikes impounded, lasted about six hours and was carried out on the directive of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade.
The enforcement took place at Badagry Expressway, Mile 2, Second Rainbow Bus Stop, V-Naija Bus Stop, Alabasuru and Berger Bus Stop where okada operators had carried on with their illegal activities.
The Chairman of the Taskforce, Chief Superintendent of Police Adetayo Akerele, said the long arm of the law would catch up with operators who managed to evade arrest if they did not turn over a new leaf.
