The Lagos State Government has announced a ₦150 million grant to boost innovation and entrepreneurship in the agrifood sector, targeting increased productivity and sustainability.
Agriculture and Food Systems Commissioner, Abisola Olusanya, disclosed this at a press briefing on Monday, stating that at least 25 promising agrifood startups will benefit from the initiative.

She said the scheme builds on last year’s ₦100 million grant to 26 youth-led agribusinesses and will include virtual and in-person pitch sessions, mentorship, and investor access.
The commissioner also launched ‘Agrithon 2025’—an agricultural hackathon offering a platform for bold, scalable solutions to Nigeria’s food challenges.
Young agripreneurs aged 18 to 40 are encouraged to apply.
The initiative is part of Lagos State’s broader strategy to strengthen food systems, promote youth-led innovation, and attract investment into the agricultural value chain.
