Lagos Urges Public Servants to Embrace Lifelong Learning

The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to professional development in the public service, calling for a shift from ad-hoc training to strategic, long-term learning.

Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Afolabi Ayantayo, made the appeal during a three-day boot camp for Learning and Development Officers in Lekki, which ended on Saturday.

He described the initiative as a timely step towards building a dynamic, future-ready workforce.

Ayantayo said continuous training and knowledge sharing across ministries and agencies are essential for sustaining growth and efficiency.

Delivering the keynote address, Head of Service Bode Agoro—represented by Permanent Secretary Bibilomo Olushekun—emphasised the need to invest in human capital and adopt emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence.

Over 100 officers attended the sessions, which covered e-learning, monitoring and evaluation, and human capital analytics.
