The Lagos State Government has warned content creators and digital media producers against using children in online content that violates child protection laws. The warning was issued in a joint statement by the commissioner for youth and social development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, and the executive secretary of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi.
The government said it was concerned about the growing portrayal of children in content that could harm their dignity, describing such practices as unethical and illegal. It reminded creators that producing or sharing content that exploits, sexualises or endangers minors contravenes the Child’s Rights Law of Lagos State, the Criminal Law of Lagos State and the Cybercrimes Act.
