The Lagos State Government has directed operators of hospitality businesses, including hotels, nightclubs and event centres, to obtain approvals from the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA). The move aims to curb indiscriminate parking and reduce traffic congestion linked to such facilities.
The directive was issued in a joint statement signed by LASPA General Manager Adebisi Adelabu and LASTMA General Manager Bakare-Oki Olalekan, following a meeting at the Parking Authority’s office. The statement warned that non-compliance would attract prosecution under the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Laws of 2018.

The two agencies urged business owners to register with the appropriate authorities to ensure proper parking arrangements and smooth vehicular movement around their premises. The collaboration is part of a broader effort by the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation to ease traffic across the state.
While LASPA is tasked with parking regulation and management, LASTMA oversees traffic control. Both agencies say they will continue to work together to improve road conditions and support the state government’s transportation agenda.
