Lawmakers Call for Decisive Moves Against Oil Thieves in the Country

News - by RadioNow / Sep. 21st, 2022

The national assembly has called on the FG to make a decisive move toward curtailing crude oil theft in the country.

The call was made by both chambers of the national assembly yesterday during their respective plenaries which were the first sessions held after their two-month recess.

According to Ahmad Lawan, president of the senate, evidence shows that Nigeria could soon lose any revenue from the oil sector unless the government takes decisive action.

In the lower chamber, Femi Gbajabiamila, speaker of the house of representatives, urged the federal government to treat oil thieves as terrorists by applying stiff measures to dissuade others.

He further called on the federal government to consider other means of curbing the menace.
