Libya’s national team coach, Nasser Al-Hadhirinew, and captain Feisal Al-Badri shared contrasting views on Thursday ahead of their crucial AFCON 2025 Group D qualifier against Nigeria’s Super Eagles in Uyo.
Speaking ahead of Friday’s clash at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Coach Al-Hadhirinew was full of praise for the Super Eagles, calling them “the best team in Africa” and suggesting that Libya had little to lose. However, his captain, Al-Badri, was far more assertive, stating their intention to secure all three points.

Al-Hadhirinew recently replaced Serbian coach Milutin Sredojević, who was dismissed after Libya’s disappointing start—drawing 1-1 with Rwanda and losing 2-1 to Benin Republic. The Libyan Football Federation saw these results as unacceptable, prompting the change in leadership ahead of the Nigerian encounter.
