Liverpool manager Arne Slot has described new signing Alexander Isak as “maybe the best striker in the world” but says the Sweden forward will be eased into the team gradually. The Premier League champions signed Isak from Newcastle on transfer deadline day for a British record £125 million.
The 25-year-old has missed several months of training and was only used sparingly by his national team during the international break. Slot praised Sweden coach Jon Dahl Tomasson for managing Isak’s fitness and said Liverpool would do the same.

Liverpool also made a late move for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, but the deal collapsed before the deadline. Slot confirmed his interest in the England international but insisted he is satisfied with his defensive options for now.
The Dutchman was speaking ahead of Sunday’s Premier League match against Burnley. Liverpool have won their opening three games of the season as they chase a record 21st English league title.
