LP Presidential Campaign Council DG, Doyin Okupe Gets Two – Year Prison Term For Money Laundering

The Federal High Court Abuja found Doyin Okupe, the Director-General of the Labour Party’s presidential Campaign Council, guilty of 26 counts of Money laundering. 

Mr. Okupe is accused of receiving over N200 million in cash from former National Security Adviser (NSA) Col. Sambo Dasuki 

The presiding judge, Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu while delivering judgement yesterday, held that the actions of Okupe, who is the first defendant in the suit filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), violated Nigeria’s Money Laundering Act. 

Following the guilty verdict, Mr Okupe was sentenced to two years imprisonment with an option of a fine of N500,000 for every charge he was found guilty of while the two-year sentence is to run concurrently from the day of delivering the judgment.
