Lucky Aiyedatiwa Sworn in for Full Term as Ondo State Governor, Pardons 43 Convicts

Lucky Aiyedatiwa has been inaugurated as the governor of Ondo State, officially beginning his first full four-year term. He previously assumed office following the death of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu in 2023.  

The swearing-in ceremony took place on Monday at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure, where Aiyedatiwa took the oath of office alongside his deputy, Olayide Adelami, at 12:59 p.m. The governor later paraded the venue in an open van, acknowledging cheers from supporters.

In his inaugural speech, Aiyedatiwa pledged to strengthen the state’s economy and sustain the people’s confidence in his administration. He vowed not to relent in driving development across Ondo State.  

As part of his first official acts, Governor Aiyedatiwa announced the pardon of 43 convicts, granting them clemency. The ceremony was attended by top political figures, including APC Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and former governors Bisi Akande and Olusegun Osoba.
