Malami Confirms EFCC Invitation, Pledges Full Cooperation

Former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, has confirmed receiving an invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, saying he is prepared to honour the summons. In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Malami described himself as a law-abiding citizen committed to accountability in public service, adding that his decision to go public aligns with his advocacy for openness in government.

Malami served as Attorney-General between 2015 and 2023, a period marked by major legal battles, asset recovery efforts and several contentious decisions that often drew national attention. His tenure also attracted scrutiny over asset declarations, contract approvals and the handling of recovered funds—allegations he repeatedly denied.
