Mali Junta Postpones Presidential Election

The transitional government in Mali has announced the postponement of the country’s Presidential election until further notice.

The exercise which was planned for February will see the country return to civilian rule after a military coup in 2020.

The military junta says the election was postponed “for technical reasons” and blames the updating of the electoral roll and problems with a census database following a dispute with the operating company.

It says a new election date will be announced in due course.
