Many Feared Dead in Fresh Attack on Taraba Villages

Multiple people have been killed in an overnight attack on Munga Lalau and Munga Doso communities in Karim-Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday when gunmen, suspected to be herders, stormed the area, opening fire on residents and setting several homes ablaze. The exact number of casualties has not yet been confirmed.

Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, described the attack as “horrendous and unacceptable.” In a statement issued by his media aide, Emmanuel Bello, the governor warned that the perpetrators would “suffer great repercussions” and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to security.

The attack is the latest in a string of violent clashes between farmers and herders in the area. Only days earlier, three people were killed in Bandawa following the murder of a local farmer. Governor Kefas has called for increased collaboration between residents and security agencies to improve intelligence and prevent further violence.
