The Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) has raised concerns over a ₦75 per litre price difference between petrol sold by the revitalised Port Harcourt Refinery and the Dangote Refinery. PETROAN’s Public Relations Officer, Dr. Joseph Obele, revealed this during the official reopening of the Port Harcourt Refinery on Tuesday, which is now producing 60,000 barrels per day.
Dr. Obele noted that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) supplies petrol from the Port Harcourt Refinery at ₦1,045 per litre, compared to ₦970 from the Dangote Refinery. He described the pricing gap as a significant challenge for businesses dependent on competitive margins in the petroleum sector.

While disclosing that NNPCL’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Mele Kyari, has pledged to address the pricing disparity, Dr. Obele commended the federal government for restoring the refinery, calling it a critical move to reduce Nigeria’s reliance on imported petroleum products.
