The Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria has called on the Federal Road Safety Corps to investigate the road safety records of Dangote Group. The appeal follows the company’s launch of 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas-powered trucks for the nationwide supply of petroleum products.
DAPPMAN alleged that Dangote trucks and drivers had been involved in multiple fatal road accidents, warning that adding new vehicles to the roads without strict safety checks could increase risks. It urged regulators to make driver training and safety audits mandatory before the trucks are deployed.

The association also accused Dangote Refinery of attempting to dominate the downstream oil sector, rejecting claims that its members were behind product smuggling and recent strike threats by the oil workers’ union NUPENG. It gave the refinery a seven-day ultimatum to either retract its allegations or provide evidence.
DAPPMAN further questioned Dangote’s recent pump price cuts, saying they were driven by exchange rate gains, lower global crude prices, and deregulation. It argued that the refinery’s restrictive supply practices undermined competition and posed a risk of creating a monopoly in Nigeria’s petroleum market.
