The Committee to Protect Journalists, CPJ, has called for sweeping reform in the investigation of journalist killings, warning that global impunity has reached alarming levels. The organisation reported that the past three years have been the deadliest for journalists since records began, with more than 125 killed in the last year alone — most of them Palestinians killed by Israeli forces.
The CPJ said many of these deaths showed clear evidence of deliberate targeting, yet few perpetrators have faced justice. It described the situation as part of a “broader, entrenched global pattern” where the killers of journalists are “getting away with murder.”

The group now plans to push for an independent international task force and stronger government sanctions against those responsible for attacks on media workers.
