The Nigerian Military has reported significant successes in its ongoing counter-terrorism operations across the country, neutralising 358 terrorists and arresting 431 suspects in January 2025. Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, disclosed these figures in a statement on Friday, highlighting the military’s continued efforts to combat terrorism and insurgency.
In addition to the arrests and neutralisations, troops apprehended 59 persons involved in oil theft and rescued 249 hostages. The operations also saw a significant disruption of oil theft activities in the South-South, with an estimated N2 billion worth of oil prevented from being stolen.

The military further reported the recovery of 370 weapons, including 105 AK47 rifles, 25 locally fabricated guns, and 32 dane guns. Troops also seized 4,972 rounds of ammunition, including various calibres, as part of their ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorist and criminal networks.
