Military Reports 34 Terrorists Neutralized, 6 Soldiers Killed in Borno Clash

The Nigerian military has disclosed details of a deadly clash between its forces and insurgents at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Sabon Gari, Damboa Local Government Area, Borno State.  

In a statement on Wednesday, Defence Media Operations Director Edward Buba confirmed that six soldiers were killed during the confrontation, which occurred on Saturday. The attack, carried out by a large number of Boko Haram fighters seeking to avenge the killing of their commander, saw 34 terrorists eliminated.

The assault, launched around 4pm, resulted in significant losses, with many troops initially unaccounted for. Military search teams have since recovered additional bodies, mostly of insurgents, highlighting the scale of the attack.  

The incident, described by security analysts as “worrisome,” underscores the persistent threat posed by militant groups in the region. Authorities have vowed to enhance operational strategies to prevent future occurrences.
