Following deadly attacks in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has met with community leaders to discuss ongoing peace efforts. Over 50 people were killed, more than 300 houses destroyed, and over 1,000 residents displaced in what the state governor described as a coordinated assault.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang dismissed claims of a farmer-herder clash, labelling the violence as organised crime. The Army Chief assured residents that troops would remain professional and impartial, promising that those behind the attacks would be brought to justice.

General Oluyede called for calm and urged residents to work together in promoting peace, stressing that military intervention alone cannot fully resolve the crisis in Plateau communities.
Also speaking, Plateau youth leader Walbe Yam appealed to the authorities to identify and prosecute those responsible. He said justice for victims is crucial to preventing further violence and retaliatory attacks in the affected areas.
