The distribution of covid-19 vaccines continues in Nigeria, as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and the Chairman Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Mr Boss Mustapha, will receive his jab today.

This is according to the director, Press Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Mr. Willie Bassey, who said this in a notice released yesterday. Members of the presidential task force, PTF, on COVID-19 will also receive their jabs today.

This will include Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire; Minister of Information and Culture, Mr Lai Muhammed; Minister of Environment, Mr Muhammad Mahmood; Minister of State for Health, Senator Olor-roon-nimbe Mamora; Director General, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu; and the National Incident Manager (NIM) PTF, Dr. Mukhtar Muhammad.

This is as the government continues to vaccinate political leaders in a bid to boost public confidence in the vaccine. Two days ago, the president, Muhammadu Buhari, and vice-president, Yemi Oshinbajo were vaccinated publicly at the presidential villa, Abuja.

Frontline health workers and support staff were the first to receive their vaccines last Friday.

Meanwhile, the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency has denied budgeting 10 billion naira for the transportation of vaccines to states. The agency insists the coalition against covid 19, CACOVID, is bearing the cost of transporting the vaccines to the country’s 36 states, from Abuja.
