Morocco and Egypt have joined South Africa and Mali in advancing to the knockout stage of the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON 2025, following the conclusion of group matches on Monday.
South Africa finished second in Group B with a 3-2 win over Zimbabwe, secured by a late penalty converted by Oswin Appollis after Marvelous Nakamba handled the ball in the box. Egypt, topping the group, drew 0-0 with Angola.
In Group A, Mali held Comoros to a 0-0 draw, with Amadou Haidara sent off in the 89th minute, ensuring the Eagles finish second in the group with three points from three draws.

Morocco ended the group stage with a comfortable 3-0 win over Zambia, highlighted by Ayoub El Kaabi’s second bicycle kick of the tournament, with both El Kaabi and Brahim Diaz now joint top scorers alongside Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez.
