Most Kidnappings in Ekpoma carried out by locals, says Gov. Okpebholo 

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, says investigations by security agencies indicate that many people involved in kidnapping and other criminal activities in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area, are indigenes of the community. He made the remarks during a stakeholders’ engagement with students of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, government officials and other stakeholders.

The governor said security operatives arrested local residents during operations in nearby forests, adding that the situation called for a reassessment of the sources of insecurity in the area. He expressed concern over the violent turn taken by recent protests, condemning the destruction of shops and looting of property in Ekpoma.

Gov. Okpebholo urged students to avoid being used by criminal elements and to focus on their studies, assuring them of his administration’s commitment to dialogue and reforms.
