Ahmed Bello Isa, father of the slain Bilyaminu Bello, has publicly accepted President Bola Tinubu’s pardon of his daughter-in-law, Maryam Sanda, convicted of his son’s murder.
Speaking in Abuja, the elderly Bello described the clemency as the will of God, saying he had forgiven her long ago and welcomed her release as an act of mercy allowing her to care for her two children.

Maryam Sanda was sentenced to death in 2020 for killing her husband during a domestic dispute in 2017, a case that drew national outrage and reignited debate over domestic violence.
Rejecting criticism from some relatives who opposed the pardon, Mr. Bello said their views did not reflect his. He maintained that vengeance could not restore his son’s life, but forgiveness could bring peace and healing.
