The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has issued a public alert over the circulation of a falsified antibiotic, BETACLOX (Ampicillin 250mg and Cloxacillin 250mg), across Nigeria. The counterfeit product, bearing Batch Number 230701 and a fake NAFDAC Registration Number A4-4724, was traced to distributors in Kano after being discovered in Zaria, Kaduna State.
Investigations showed the registration number actually belongs to another drug, confirming deliberate misrepresentation. The product, falsely linked to Freeview Pharmaceutical Limited, was listed with inconsistent addresses and unverified manufacturing claims.
