NAFDAC Destroys ₦1.3bn Worth of Fake and Expired Goods in Abuja

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has destroyed counterfeit, expired, and substandard goods worth ₦1.3 billion in Abuja. The destruction took place at the Kuje dump site, with NAFDAC officials, led by Festus Ukadike, overseeing the operation on behalf of Director General Professor Moji Adeyeye.

The goods destroyed included drugs, hospital equipment, cosmetics, and various food items. The operation also involved the disposal of expired food products voluntarily handed over by local and international organisations, including the World Food Programme (WFP).

NAFDAC’s efforts are part of the agency’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding public health by removing harmful and substandard products from circulation. The destroyed items were deemed unfit for consumption or use, posing significant health risks.
