Nigeria’s food and drug regulator, NAFDAC, has issued a firm rebuttal following the circulation of an audio message claiming it shut down the Tummy Tummy noodles factory in Anambra State.
Describing the message as false and recycled, NAFDAC Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, said the same claims were investigated and dismissed in October 2023.
She confirmed that the factory remains operational and that an unscheduled inspection conducted by the agency found no regulatory breaches. Four noodle variants were tested at NAFDAC’s Agulu lab, all with satisfactory results.

The viral audio also alleged bans on tinned tomatoes and seasoning cubes, including Maggi—claims Adeyeye called baseless.
She added that no harmful substances, including ethylene oxide, were found in locally produced noodles.
NAFDAC urged the public to ignore the audio and avoid spreading unverified health information.
