The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a warning over Bledine Infant Cereals following a ban in Chad due to contamination concerns. The affected products include Bledine Saveur Biscuit, Bledine Saveur Biscuit & Lait, Bledine Miel & Lait, and Bledine Banane & Lait, with expiry dates from September 2026 to March 2027.
NAFDAC said the cereals failed to meet European safety standards for Aflatoxin B1, a carcinogenic and immunotoxic substance, and noted that affected batches are already circulating in Nigeria, especially in border communities with Chad.
The agency directed zonal directors and state coordinators to remove any contaminated products from retail shops, informal markets, and distribution channels. Healthcare professionals, distributors, retailers, and caregivers were urged to verify products and source them only from licensed suppliers.

Consumers and health workers were also encouraged to report any adverse reactions or suspected side effects linked to the cereals to ensure public safety.
