NAFDAC Warns Public on Hazardous Nivea Deodorant Recall

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has alerted the public to the recall of Nivea Black & White Invisible Roll-on deodorant, found to contain a dangerous chemical. This product includes 2-(4-tert-Butylbenzyl) propionaldehyde (BMHCA), a compound prohibited in cosmetics for its potential to cause reproductive harm, risks to unborn children, and skin irritation.

The recalled product, in a 50ml bottle marked “48H Protection in African Climate,” bears the batch number 93529610, with a bar code of 42299882. The alert follows an EU safety notice through RAPEX, highlighting concerns over health impacts.

NAFDAC advises importers, distributors, and consumers to exercise caution and remove any of this batch from circulation. The agency underscores the importance of vigilance within the supply chain to prevent further distribution of the hazardous product.
