NANS Issues Seven-Day Ultimatum as ASUU Strike Threatens Academic Stability

The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has given the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, a seven-day ultimatum to end their dispute and avert another nationwide strike.

NANS President, Olushola Oladoja, warned that any disruption to the academic calendar would be unacceptable, describing the current tension as a setback to two years of uninterrupted studies under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Mr. Oladoja urged both sides to return to the negotiation table and find a lasting solution, noting that many students now rely on educational loans and cannot afford further delays.

He commended recent reforms in the education sector but said poor communication and slow implementation of agreements had reignited unrest. NANS also appealed to President Tinubu to personally intervene before progress in the sector is undone.
